The heart behind our new single, Moses’ Song

  • "My Journey's in Your Hands"

Jesus shows us by example that we are to submit to the will and heart of God. “Take this cup from me…not my will, but Yours.”

After being delivered from captivity in Egypt, and after being led through the Red Sea on dry land while their enemies drowned, the Israelites still failed to give themselves over to God. After all He did for them, they crafted a calf out of bronze and worshiped it.

How often, after all God’s done for us, do we do the same? How often do we find ourselves worshiping our own creation, praising our own accomplishments, and exalting ourselves over the God that brought us here?

To follow God is to lay ourselves at the feet of Christ, and to submit to His plan for our lives. It’s better than anything we can come up with anyway!

“I lay my life down at the altar now, I lay my idols down. I surrender to Your design, it’s better Your will than mine.”

  • Our hope is in Christ

Jesus said that with the faith of a mustard seed, we can say to this mountain to be moved into the sea, and it will go. The second verse speaks to struggle and hope.

We are going to face circumstances that seem impossible to overcome, like mountains standing in our way. And we will come into situations where it feels like we’re stuck between the red sea and the pursuing Egyptian army. But in Christ, the mountains are thrown into the sea, and the rivers are split for us to cross through.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13)

Our hope is in Christ. And as long as we fix our eyes on Him, the impossible becomes possible. So…

“Take me to the mountains tossed into the sea, to the rivers You’ll part for. me. Take me to the wooden beams, and the blood that was shed for me.”

  • "If You're Not In It, I Don't Want It"

After finding the Israelites worshiping the idol they created, Moses returned to Mount Sinai. God told him, “I’ll give you everything I promised you. I”ll make a way for you to enter into the promised land. But I’m not going with you.”

Moses’ response teaches us an important lesson about the blessings of God. The blessings of God are not in the things He gives us, but in His presence with us! What was Moses’ response? We will not leave this mountain unless you go with us". We paraphrase it this way: “If You’re not in it, I don’t want it. If You’re not there, I won’t go.”
